Blaise Matuidi has revealed he wanted to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer only for a potential move to Juventus to be blocked.

The France international was linked with a move to the Italian champions as a replacement for Paul Pogba following his transfer to Manchester United.

But having been denied a move away, Matuidi, who has played more than 200 games for PSG and helped the club to four league titles, insists he is not unhappy in the French capital.

"There was a concrete offer," Matuidi told French football show Telefoot. "I did want to leave. The club decided otherwise and I had to accept it."

"It is true that it has been a delicate period for me because I had a wish and that wish was not granted. However, I am not unhappy at PSG. Far from it, in fact, I am very happy."

Matuidi, 29, has two years remaining on his contract and although he has lost his place in the starting line-up, he is happy with new coach Unai Emery.

"There is a new coach and I know that he has great confidence in me, we have discussed this considerably. I think that counted for a lot as far as the club's desire [to keep him] was concerned."
