Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil wants to take the number 10 shirt following Jack Wilshere's departure to Bournemouth earlier this week.
Whilst the English midfielder is only on a season-long loan at the south-coast side, Ozil believes that he should be able to take the number 10 because of the position he plays.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder currently wears number 11 at the Gunners but having obtained the number 10 shirt for his country from Lukas Podolski following the former Arsenal forward's retirement from international football, Ozil is now seeking the same shirt at the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking to Sport1 the former Real Madrid star said, "Of course I have previously given those in charge a signal.
"The number is right for me and my position as a playmaker," he added.
Wilshere signed for Bournemouth for the rest of the season as he aims to get a run of games and play his back into contention for a place in Sam Allardyce's England squad.
With 24-year-old, Wilshere away, Ozil is seeking to wear the shirt that was worn by Arsenal legend, Dennis Bergkamp.
Ozil played a pivotal role in helping Arsenal finish runners-up in the Premier League last season as he provided a fantastic 19 assists and also scored six goals, but the Germany international was extremely unlucky not be included in the PFA Team of the Year despite being nominated for Player of the Year.
