Mansfield vs Cambridge - New recruit Alex Iacovitti could feature for Mansfield against Cambridge

New signing Alex Iacovitti will be included in the Mansfield squad against Cambridge.

The 18-year-old defender, who can play at centre-half or at left-back, joined the Stags this week on loan from Nottingham Forest until the end of the season and will probably begin on the bench.

Mansfield manager Adam Murray made seven changes for the Checkatrade Trophy game against Doncaster and could make as many again on Saturday.

However, Kyle Howkins, Chris Clements (hamstring), Jack Thomas (groin) and Jamie McGuire are nursing injuries and Danny Rose remains unavailable to Murray as he completes a three-match ban.

Cambridge's deadline-day signing Brad Halliday is hoping to make his debut after joining on a permanent deal from Middlesbrough.

Forward Adam McGurk is a step closer to returning to contention following a knee injury which saw him taken off against Aston Villa in pre-season.

McGurk has re-joined training this week but manager Shaun Derry thinks Saturday's game could be too soon for his return.

Midfielder George Maris is also expected to be on the sidelines due to an ongoing thigh problem, although there is a small chance he could feature.
