Montpellier 1 - 1 Stade Rennais FC: Adama Diakhaby secures a point for Rennes at Montpellier

Adama Diakhaby climbed off the bench to net his first Ligue 1 goal and earn Rennes a 1-1 draw at Montpellier.

Daniel Congre put Montpellier ahead in the 22nd minute when he fired home from Ryad Boudebouz's cross.

That was not enough to earn the 2012 French champions the points though, with 20-year-old Rennes substitute Diakhaby - in just his second league appearance - levelling in the 64th minute after latching on to a fine Benjamin Andre through-ball and firing through Geoffrey Jourdren's legs.

Rennes might have snatched the points but Romain Danze saw his powerful 73rd-minute header from a corner hit the post.

The result leaves both clubs with four points from three games, with one win, one draw and one defeat each so far.
