Barnsley vs Rotherham United - Sam Winnall set to return for Barnsley

Barnsley striker Sam Winnall will return to contention for the home game against South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham.

Winnall, the Reds' leading scorer last season with 24 goals in all competitions, has been sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in the opening-day defeat at Ipswich.

Summer signing Sess D'Almeida will play no part and could miss the rest of the season after damaging his cruciate ligament while playing for the club's Under-23s this week.

Fellow midfielder George Moncur and striker Stefan Payne are pushing for first league starts of the season, while head coach Paul Heckingbottom has no other new injury or suspension problems.

Rotherham will be without Tom Adeyemi for their first visit to Oakwell since 2005.

The on-loan Cardiff midfielder suffered a thigh injury on his debut against Brentford last week and has not recovered in time.

There is better news, though, as Joe Newell is expected to be involved for the first time this season after undergoing ankle surgery in the summer, while Greg Halford (groin) has returned to training.

Lee Frecklington is unlikely to be risked as he is nursed back to fitness from a calf problem and Kirk Broadfoot is a long-term absentee with a back injury.
