Airdrieonians vs Stranraer - Diamonds ready to shine against Blues

Airdrie are at full strength for the visit of Stranraer.

Both sides were bolstered by wins in the Irn-Bru Cup in midweek.

Diamonds head coach Kevin McBride said: "We did well to beat Motherwell's Under-20 as they have a lot of talented young players. It was a great game for us to have so soon after the disappointment of losing to Livingston last weekend and winning it has given us a real boost before facing Stranraer.

"They had a 7-1 success over Spartans in midweek after a couple of disappointments in the league and they will be keen to get their league campaign up and running at our expense."

Stranraer, beaten in both league matches so far, will be without striker Christian Nade who has an ankle injury.

Blues boss Brian Reid wants his side to bring their cup form into their league campaign.

He said: "We had a great win in midweek in a game which we made much more comfortable than I thought it would be. After two disappointments in the league we will go to Airdrie with some confidence and look to get our league campaign kick-started.

"We defended well against Spartans but we need to show that we can defend properly in league games now as some of the goals that we gave away to Livingston and Alloa were really soft."
