Pienaar signs for Sunderland

Sunderland have confirmed the signing of former Bafana Bafana international Steven Pienaar on a deal until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old was a free agent after leaving Everton at the end of the 2015/16 campaign, having made close to 200 appearances for the Toffees.
Pienaar will reunite with Black Cats coach David Moyes after the pair previously enjoyed a good working relationship at Everton.
A deal always looked likely for the South African to join Sunderland as Moyes is known to be a big admirer of the midfielder.
He told reporters recently: "He’s very good on the ball, doesn’t give possession away too often – he’s a tidy player."
The Scottish coach first brought Pienaar to England in 2007 when he was in charge of Everton. The player has enjoyed some success in his career – he won six domestic trophies with Ajax Amsterdam, which includes two league titles.
He later had spells with Borussia Dortmund in Germany as well as Everton and Tottenham Hotspur. 'Schillo' retired from international football in 2012 after collecting 61 caps for his country.
