Klopp defends under-fire Moreno
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has leapt to the defence of full-back Alberto Moreno, following widespread criticism of the player's performance against Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has become somewhat of a scapegoat for the Reds' defensive woes over the past year. with criticism reaching a fever pitch after the Merseysiders were pushed all the way to the wire in an entertaining 4-3 victory over Arsenal on Sunday.

Many pundits and fans have subsequently called for Klopp to bring in a new left-back before the close of the transfer window, but the German tactician has given no indication that he will dip into the transfer market to replace Moreno.

Speaking to the assembled press ahead of the weekend's clash with Burnley at Turf Moor, Klopp said: "If someone plays not too good then we talk about it in the press conference. That's cool.

"He was involved in a penalty situation, right? That's something we spoke about. We've spoken about it.

"In my opinion, we could have avoided this situation and yes Alberto could have done better, that's right. But I don't understand what we are talking about.

"We are talking about Alberto Moreno because he didn't defend so well against Arsenal? I don't understand the conversation, maybe I should read more newspapers.

"I can't be interested in criticism. Alberto played for a reason. Is the world not satisfied with our left-back?

"I'm sorry people aren't happy with Alberto Moreno."
