Calleri joins the Hammers from Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado but spent last season on loan with Brazilian giants Sao Paulo - where he impressed finishing as top scorer of the 2015 Copa Libertadores.
His nine goals in 12 games led his former side to the semi-final stages of the competition and he'll be hoping to replicate that form with the Hammers in their Premier League and Europa League campaigns.
"I am very happy to have signed for West Ham," he told the club's website. "This represents a fantastic new challenge for me and I am really looking forward to it.
"The Premier League is the best league in the world and so I am delighted to have this opportunity to play in such a prestigious league."
