Queen of South vs Ayr Utd. - Queens captain to miss Ayr visit

Queen of the South captain Chris Higgins is a doubt ahead of the visit of Ayr.

Higgins has a hamstring problem and looks set to miss out along with Dale Hilson, who is nursing an ankle injury.

Home boss Gavin Skelton is expecting a tough game, he said: "Ayr are still on a high after winning promotion and they pushed Aberdeen all the way in midweek.

"We had a great win at Hibs but know that our first half performance was not as strong as we would have liked it. I am looking for a full 90 minutes performance in this game."

Ayr have added Dundee midfielder Gary Harkins to their ranks ahead of the trip to Dumfries while on-loan Partick striker Kevin Nisbet could also be in line for a debut.

Brian Gilmour and Ross Docherty are fit again for United so Craig Moore is now the only injury absentee as he continues to recover from a head injury.

"I am delighted to bring a player of the calibre of Gary Harkins to the club and he will be involved straight away. We did well against Aberdeen and we are looking to build on that performance," said Ayr boss Ian McCall.
