Dumbarton vs Dundee United - Gallagher returns for Dumbarton

Dumbarton have Grant Gallagher available again for the visit of Dundee United.

Gallagher has served a suspension and returns to the reckoning but injuries have ruled out Frazer Wright (achilles), Darren Barr (back) and Garry Fleming (hamstring).

Sons boss Stephen Aitken said: "It is not ideal to be facing a strong Dundee United side without three of our most experienced players however we simply have to get on with it. We need to show improvement in our defending and if we do that then we can get our season off and running.

"In our first home game of last season we defeated Hibs and it would be terrific to pull off a similar win."

United will be without Paul Dixon (knee) but Dutch striker Nick van der Velden is available again after missing Tuesday night's 3-1 Betfred Cup win over Partick Thistle through suspension.

"We did really well in midweek however winning this game requires a different mindset. We might be away from home but we are facing a part-time side and expected to do well," said United manager Ray McKinnon.

"We have to handle that and whilst Dumbarton have been shipping a few goals they have a decent squad and a good manager. This will be a tough game to win so our heads have to be right."
