Port Vale vs Southend United - Streete ready to push things forward for Port Vale

Posted Friday, August 12, 2016 by PA

Remie Streete and Rigino Cicilia are set to be recalled to the Port Vale team for the visit of Southend.

Both players had slight knocks so were left out as a precaution against Carlisle in the EFL Cup to ensure they would be fit for Saturday's Sky Bet League One game.

Vale boss Bruno Ribeiro made four changes at Brunton Park and Jerome Thomas and Paulo Tavares could also return to the side, meaning Calvin Mac-Intosch, Chris Mbamba, Sam Kelly and Anton Forrester will drop back out.

Ribeiro, who is hoping to sign a striker in time for the game, is still without full-backs Kiko (Achilles) and Adam Yates (anterior cruciate ligament).

Southend could have forward Nile Ranger back from a groin problem.

Midfielder Michael Timlin has stepped up his rehabilitation following a hamstring injury as he closes in on a return.

Anthony Wordsworth has now had an operation on his hamstring problem and is expected to be out for another three weeks.

Shrimpers boss Phil Brown otherwise reported no fresh injury concerns as he looks for the team to recover from successive defeats by Gillingham, who knocked them out of the EFL Cup on Tuesday.
