Arsenal round-up: Wenger hints at striker selection vs Liverpool, Gunners accept Debuchy bid

The end of the transfer window is drawing ever closer and time is running out for Arsenal to make the signings they need.

Manager Arsene Wenger has already made three major acquisitions so far this summer, with the club securing deals for Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding and Takuma Asano. However, the club are still in need of a new striker and a centre-back before the end of the month.

On that note, here’s a round-up of the latest news surrounding Arsenal.

Reported Arsenal target Isco has been put up for sale by Real Madrid. The Spaniard has been heavily linked with the Gunners on several occasions and would be a perfect fit for Arsenal’s style of play. Madrid are seeking to move Isco on in order to raise money for signings.

New Arsenal signing Kelechi Nwakali has been offered to Ajax on loan. The talented attacking midfielder completed his protracted move to the Gunners on Friday but, owing to work permit problems, Nwakali is likely to spend this season out on loan. Ajax, who have a stellar reputation for developing young players, are touted as a potential destination.

Arsenal have accepted an offer for Mathieu Debuchy. A transfer to Galatasaray is imminent for the defender, with Carl Jenkinson set to be the Gunners’ second-choice right-back.

Wenger has suggested that he will start either Alexis Sanchez or Theo Walcott up front in next weekend’s Premier League opener against Liverpool. Arsenal will be without Olivier Giroud for the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s side, and Sanchez will be given an opportunity to prove that he can lead the line when the Gunners take on Manchester City on Sunday in their final pre-season friendly.
