Dundee United 1 - 1 Queen of South: Dundee United take a point from clash with Queen of the South

Posted Sunday, August 07, 2016 by PA

Dundee United emerged from their opening Championship encounter against Queen of the South with a 1-1 draw.

The hosts were a goal down at the break as Mark Millar struck five minutes before the interval. Lyndon Dykes was the architect with a mazy run on the left. Cammy Bell parried his shot, but Millar was well-placed to finish the job.

However, just shy of the hour mark, Stewart Murdoch angled in a diagonal ball and Dutchman Nick Van der Velden planted his left foot on the ball to find the equaliser for the Tannadice club.

Tope Obadeyi nearly brought the Tangerines all three points, but his effort was superbly palmed on to the post by Lee Robinson.
