Queen's Park vs Airdrieonians - Injuries hit Queen's Park ahead of league opener
Posted Friday, August 05, 2016 by PA
Queen's Park play their first game in the third level of Scottish football since 2009 when they host Airdrie but Sean Burns is banned.
Injury rules out defender Tony Quinn (hip), midfielder Jamie McKernan (foot) and striker John Carter (ankle).
Head coach Gus MacPherson said: "This is only our fifth game of the season but it is the second time we have faced Airdrie at Hampden.
"We met them in the Betfred Cup and drew 3-3 on a night when both sides played a lot of open and expansive football. We will look to play the same way whilst shutting Airdrie down far better than we did then."
The Diamonds are without striker Andy Ryan who is serving a suspension.
One-time Arsenal defender Daniel Boateng could be in line for his debut if international clearance comes through in time.
First team coach Kevin McBride said: "This will be a totally different game to the recent one.
"That was a very open cup tie but I suspect that both sides will be a bit cagier in this game. We have had a bit of rest and recovery since then and hopefully that will help us."
