St. Mirren vs Greenock - Rocco Quinn to miss out for St Mirren

St Mirren will be without Rocco Quinn (knee) when they start their Championship season with a home Renfrewshire derby clash with Morton.

Manager Alex Rae said: "This is a real baptism of fire for our new-look side and a game that will be difficult to win.

"Their manager Jim Duffy will put out a very organised side who will be hard to break down, but if we play like we did against Edinburgh City last weekend in the first half when we scored three goals then we can pick up the win.

"If we play like we did in the second half then we will struggle to score."

Morton are again without Conor Pepper (knee) and Mark Russell is a doubt due to an illness that has seen him miss training this week.

Greenock manager Duffy cannot wait for kick-off as he explained: "This game will be passionate, exciting and hard-fought and that is what will make it a good football game.

"They have signed four strikers and can have various combinations up front, but they have good choices in other parts of the pitch as well.

"However, we have gelled well during our Betfred group games and we will look to take the game to them."
