Grimsby vs Morecambe - Craig Disley to miss out for Grimsby
Posted Thursday, August 04, 2016 by PA
Grimsby will be without captain Craig Disley when they welcome Morecambe for their first English Football League match in six years.
Disley sustained a concussion in the pre-season friendly at Gainsborough Trinity and is a week into a mandatory 14-day absence.
Zak Mills is also out having missed much of the pre-season programme with a hamstring injury.
Danny Andrew, Rhys Browne and Josh Gowling have had fitness concerns of their own recently but manager Paul Hurst expects all three to be ready for the big kick-off.
Morecambe boss Jim Bentley has a host of new players who could make debuts.
Defender Michael Rose joined on Monday after leaving Rochdale to become the Shrimps' ninth signing of the summer.
Other recent arrivals are forward Jack Dunn and defender Alex Whitmore, on loan from Liverpool and Burnley respectively, plus former Clarets goalkeeper Danijel Nizic.
Skipper Peter Murphy remains sidelined by the knee injury that ended his 2015-16 season in January, with October currently the target for the midfielder's return.
