Huddersfield vs Brentford - Dean Whitehead missing for Huddersfield through suspension

Huddersfield will begin their 2016/17 campaign against Brentford without veteran midfielder Dean Whitehead.

The 34-year-old will miss the first three games of the new season after he was handed a suspension at the end of last term.

Boss David Wagner will check on the fitness of Nahki Wells ahead of kick-off, but he will definitely be without midfielder Philip Billing (ankle) and forward Harry Bunn (hamstring).

Wagner could give debuts to a host of summer signings, with Christopher Schindler - a club-record acquisition from 1860 Munich - among those hoping to feature.

Dan Bentley is set to make his debut in goal for Brentford after David Button moved to west London rivals Fulham.

Defenders John Egan and Callum Elder and midfielder Romaine Sawyers should also be involved after their summer switches to the Bees.

Boss Dean Smith has doubts over defenders Maxime Colin, who has a calf problem, and Andreas Bjelland with an abductor strain.

Forward Lasse Vibe is away with the Denmark squad at the Olympic Games.
