Newport vs Mansfield - Jon Parkin suspended for Newport's opener against Mansfield

Newport are without summer signing Jon Parkin for the Sky Bet League Two visit of Mansfield.

Parkin, who has had a two-year absence from the English Football League at Forest Green, is serving a three-match ban carried over from last term.

County only finished just above the relegation places last season after failing to win any of their final 11 matches, and boss Warren Feeney has recruited heavily this summer.

Former Arsenal midfielder Mark Randall, Marlon Jackson, Jennison Myrie-Williams, Ben Tozer, Jack Compton and Sean Rigg are all in contention to make their Exiles debuts.

Veteran striker Darius Henderson could make his Mansfield bow after joining the club on a free transfer this week.

The 34-year-old former Watford and Sheffield United forward, who was released by Coventry in May, is one of a host of new faces who could line up for the Stags.

Manager Adam Murray has close to a full squad available and has some other new midfield and attacking options at his disposal in Ashley Hemmings, CJ Hamilton, Kevan Hurst and Pat Hoban.

George Taft and Rhys Bennett could feature in the back line, with new loan signing Kyle Howkins also available.
