Ligue 1 newcomers Metz have bolstered their goalkeeping options with the signing of Eiji Kawashima on a free transfer from Dundee United.
The 33-year-old keeper had spent the second half of last season with the Terrors, but was released by the Scottish club recently following their relegation from the Premiership.
Kawashima has now put pen to paper on a one-year deal with Les Grenats, who have returned to the top tier of French football after a 10-year absence via their third-placed finish in Ligue 2 to gain promotion.
The Japan international previously played in Belgium for five years before moving to Scotland at the end of last year and will provide competition for Thomas Didillon and David Oberhauser in goal.
"Japanese goalkeeper Eiji #Kawashima is committed to a season with Les Grenats!" the Lorraine club announced on their Twitter account.
