Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has revealed that he is looking forward to playing with new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ibrahimovic, who scored 38 league goals as Paris Saint-Germain won the title in emphatic fashion last season, has joined United on a free transfer and is expected to lead the line for the club next campaign, with Rooney operating just behind him as an attacking midfielder.
The pair have yet to play together, with Ibrahimovic having not been included in United's squad for their pre-season tour of China, but Rooney is eagerly anticipating linking up with the Swede.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, Rooney said: "I am looking forward to it.
"I think he has been one of the best strikers in world football over the last 10 years and he has always won trophies everywhere he has been.
"He is a huge character so I am looking forward to getting back, training with him and hopefully forming a good partnership and being successful together."
Ibrahimovic is one of three players to have arrived at United so far this summer, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly having also joined the club, while there could be further signings before the conclusion of the campaign, with midfielder Paul Pogba having been heavily linked with a return to the club.
New United manager Jose Mourinho is tasked with attempting to re-establish United at the forefront of English football, although achieving that aim won't be an easy task, with Manchester City and Chelsea having also made high-profile managerial appointments in Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte respectively.
United take on Bournemouth away next month in their first Premier League game of the season.
