Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has joined Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng for a reported £5 million fee.

The 31-year-old joined the Magpies from Freiburg four and a half years ago and leaves after scoring 44 goals in 131 appearances.

Rafa Benitez's side were relegated from the Premier League last season and Cisse has chosen to join the growing Super League, which has attracted the likes of Hulk, Ramires and Jackson Martinez in recent times.

Cisse will be remembered for stunning goals against Chelsea in Southampton and his briefly prolific partnership with Demba Ba, who is also now plying his trade in China.
