Spain coach Del Bosque is under pressure to resign after the holders crashed out of Euro 2016 after being outclassed 2-0 by Italy.

He will hold talks with the Spanish FA before a decision is made, but Real Madrid star Ramos believes he has earned the right to decide his own fate.

Ramos said: "I don't know what the boss wants to do, it is for him to make a decision, together with the president. I don't know if there should be a change or not.

"From the armchair, with a bag of crisps, it is easy to talk. I have seen players perform very well, despite their age.

"I am still fully motivated. Of course we can go for the World Cup. Some people are happy that some players have not played their best, but you cannot always be in top form."

Spain's historic spell of dominance is well and truly over as their defeat by Italy confirmed their dismal World Cup showing in Brazil really was the end of an era.

Del Bosque's team were thrashed 5-1 by Holland and humbled 2-0 by Chile as they crashed out in the group stage, and many felt the manager should have gone then.

Porto's Julen Lopetegui and former Athletic Bilbao coach Joaquin Caparros are now contenders to take over, along with former Everton boss Roberto Martinez, with a decision expected next month.

But Barcelona defender Gerard Pique said: "Del Bosque deserves the right to decide himself. He is a very big person and it is best that he decides. If he has the strength, he should carry on."
