AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Gianluca Lapadula, with the striker signing a contract until 2021 with the Rossoneri.
The 26-year-old attracted plenty of interest with his form last season, as he fired Pescara to promotion with 30 goals in 44 games for the club.
However, it was always likely that he would move on this summer given the top clubs monitoring his progress, with Juventus, Napoli and Leicester City touted as possible destinations.
Milan have beaten them all to his signing though, as they confirmed his arrival in an official statement on their website.
''Welcome Gianluca!” says the statement.
''All Rossoneri hope that Gianluca can have the most beautiful satisfaction of his career with us, and it’s with this spirit and enthusiasm that the player has signed with Milan until June 30, 2021.”
It’s a surprising move from the Rossoneri given that they are still currently involved in takeover talks and have yet to appoint a long-term coach.
The club remain in negotiations with a Chinese consortium over buying a majority share in the club, while current boss Cristian Brocchi will see his contract expire at the end of this month.
Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped them from swooping for Lapadula, who will now look to repay their faith and prove that he is equally as capable of delivering goals in the Italian top flight.
Milan have yet to release details of the fee, but given previous speculation, it is expected that the deal is worth around €9m.
