With just one week left until Euro 2016 commences, the numbers that are to be worn by the Spanish players have been announced, with Lucas Vazquez confirmed as the side’s new No. 9.
The shirt carries a weight of responsibility for the young Real Madrid winger, having previously belonged to Fernando Torres. The Atletico Madrid striker made over 100 appearances for La Roja and his goal settled the final of Euro 2008.
Former AC Milan man Torres also found the back of the net in the final of Euro 2012 and Spain will be hoping Vazquez can have a similar impact, as Vicente Del Bosque’s team look to retain their title in France.
Other newcomers to the squad include Aritz Aduriz and Hector Bellerin, who have chosen the numbers 20 and 12 respectively.
