Ince urges Alli to avoid petulance
Former England midfielder Paul Ince hopes Dele Alli can control his temperament as he looks set to star for the national team at Euro 2016.

The Tottenham midfielder received 11 bookings this season and missed the last three games through suspension due to a violent conduct which slightly marred his 10 goals and nine assists.

Ince pointed out the way a young, talented David Beckham was targeted by more experienced players in France '98 and has now urged Alli to avoid similar petulance.

"I actually felt sorry for Becks at the time because [Diego] Simeone made the most of it, as you would do," the former Manchester United enforcer told The Sun.

"The continental players are clever and he got done. Dele should look at that incident and think about what he is doing. He is vital for England. He is a young lad but he has to grow up quickly."

Although Ince is a big fan of Alli's fiery character, he feels that referees in the Premier League differ from international officials, which all the youngsters will soon find out.

"I do quite like the way he stands up for himself. It shows a nice arrogance and that he won't be walked over," the 48-year-old added.

"But he must remember Premier League referees are different to foreign referees and they won't tolerate it."
