Chelsea in hunt for big-name striker, with Juventus, Napoli and Everton stars on list

Chelsea have had limited luck with their strikers this season, getting virtually nothing out of Loic Remy nor highly-touted loan pickups Radamel Falcao and Alexandre Pato. Diego Costa did not pick up his goalscoring pace until nearly midway through the season, and Eden Hazard didn’t even score a goal until the last handful of games.

Per the Telegraph, the team intends to make every effort to bring in a fresh striker with tons of star-power to give the goal tally a boost by aggressively pursuing a trio of talents: Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain and Juventus/Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

Romelu Lukaku finished fourth in the Premier League in goals with 18 goals for Everton this past year. He played for Chelsea before being sold to Everton in 2014 for £28 million – though the Blues might now need to spend about twice that much to get him back.

Higuain set a Serie A record with 36 goals for Napoli this season, leading the team to a 2nd-place finish and the Champions League in the process.

Morata finished the season with eight goals and seven assists for Juventus, winning the Serie A title in the process. He is expected to return to Real Madrid on a contract buy-back move this summer.
