Manchester United face Bournemouth at Old Trafford tonight in the last Premier League game of the campaign, although manager Louis Van Gaal may take the opportunity to rest some of his key players ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.
United go into tonight's game knowing that their hopes of securing a top four finish are effectively over, and, despite the possibility that they could end the campaign with a trophy, this has been a rather frustrating season for the club.
Here's a round-up of all the latest news surrounding United.
United have informed Jose Mourinho that the managers job at the club is his if Louis Van Gaal leaves this summer. Mourinho has been strongly linked with United since he was sacked by Chelsea in December, but it isn't currently clear whether van Gaal will elect to see out the final year of his contract. United are aware that Mourinho would love to join the club. (Sky Sports)
United are interested in signing Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica this summer. The 28-year-old is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or on either flank and, if he joined, he would provide United with a much-needed sense of dynamism. Gaitan, who has been impressive for Benfica this season, is also reportedly being tracked by Atletico Madrid. (Inside Futbol)
Club legend Peter Schmeichel has said that United have bored him to death this season. Van Gaal's side have created just 302 chances in the Premier League this season, and have often struggled to make a significant impact in an attacking sense. Whereas previously United were renowned for entertaining, high-scoring football, that certainly hasn't been the case for much of this campaign. (Sky Sports)
United have made a formal offer for striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to reports. The Sweden international is available on a free transfer after stating that he will be leaving Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires at the end of next month. Signing Ibrahimovic would provide United with extra depth up front, with van Gaal having been over-reliant on Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford this campaign. (Metro)
United sent scouts to watch Schalke winger Leroy Sane ahead of a possible move. The prospect has been heavily linked with Liverpool, but United are also interested in signing him as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of next season. Sane has created 27 chances in the Bundesliga this season. (Daily Express)
Juan Mata has been left out of Spain's squad for Euro 2016. The midfielder has often been used out wide by van Gaal rather than in his preferred attacking midfield position and Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque explained that he decided to leave Mata out due to the fierce competition for places in midfield.
