John Terry may yet have played his last game at Stamford Bridge after the Chelsea captain cancelled an end-of-season kickabout with his family and friends.

Terry, 35, had booked the pitch he has graced since his 1998 debut prior to being offered a one-year extension to his contract with the Londoners last week.

The club were due to celebrate his achievement of reaching the 700-game mark this season against Leicester on Sunday, but he missed the 1-1 draw with Claudio Ranieri's side while serving a ban for his red card at Sunderland the previous week.

Terry had looked to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge after a career in which he won four league titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, one Champions League and the Europa League, along with 78 England caps.

However, a new one-year deal was put on the table last week, the length of contract in keeping with the proposal offered by a number of top clubs to players over 30 years of age.

But the future remains uncertain as Terry, who was linked with moves to China and the MLS, has yet to confirm whether he intends to take up the offer from the club - 'the only Premier League side he would ever play for'.

After the game on Sunday, he spoke to his adoring fans who heard their 'Captain, Leader, Legend' reiterate his love for the club he has graced since walking in as a 14-year-old schoolboy.
