Stranraer 1 - 1 Ayr Utd.: Honours even in Championship play-off final after Ayr deny Stranraer at death

Ross Docherty grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser for Ayr as the first leg of the Ladbrokes Championship play-off final with Stranraer finished 1-1 at Stair Park.

Boths sides squandered first-half chances, Stranraer's Ryan Thomson stinging Greg Fleming's palms and Ayr's Jordan Preston firing wide from a corner.

Mark McGuigan gave the hosts a 54th-minute lead when Andy Stirling broke clear and played a through-ball to McGuigan who slotted into the opposite corner from the left of the area.

Home keeper Cameron Belford then denied Preston when he was through on goal before Paul Cairney forced a brilliant reflex save from Fleming.

Stranraer substitute Jamie Longworth missed a glorious late chance just prior to Docherty finishing left-footed from a central position with the last kick of the game.
