Yannick Cahuzac marked his 300th appearance for Bastia with the winning goal against Angers.
The midfielder grabbed the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute when a deflected effort from distance got the better of Alexandre Letellier in the away goal.
Angers had the chance to level five minutes into the second half when Pierrick Capelle won a penalty, but Thomas Mangani put his spot-kick over the crossbar.
The Blues held on to their slender lead until the final whistle, collecting just a second win in 10 outings, while ninth-placed Angers failed to score for the third match in a row.
