Livingston 4 - 1 Stranraer: Livingston down as Stranraer survive fightback

Livingston were relegated from the Scottish Championship after a thrilling 4-3 win in the play-off semi-final second leg was not enough to prevent an 8-6 aggregate defeat to Stranraer.

The home side had a mountain to climb after a 5-2 defeat in the first leg but Liam Buchanan gave them hope in the 18th minute when he rounded Stranraer goalkeeper Cameron Belford to open the scoring.

Livi were then awarded an indirect free-kick just seven yards out in first-half stoppage-time after Belford picked up a backpass and, after the initial effort was blocked, Jordan White struck to further reduce the deficit.

Stranraer's nerves were eased when Paul Cairney's 25-yard lob doubled their advantage but Danny Mullen pulled one back in the 89th minute and there was more drama to come as Craig Halkett converted a free-kick in the fourth minute of stoppage time to level the scores on aggregate.

That took the match into extra time but Stranraer were not to be denied. Liam Dick's run down the left and cool finish in the 109th minute put them back in front before Jamie Longworth added another to set up a promotion showdown with Ayr.
