Reported Liverpool target Shkodran Mustafi hints he’s open to move this summer

Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi has said that he will consider his future this summer amidst rumours of a possible switch to Liverpool.

The Germany international spent time with Everton as a youngster but has tipped for a switch to Anfield, where he would surely relish the chance to work under Jurgen Klopp.

Valencia are set to miss out on European qualification, and Mustafi is contemplating moving elsewhere.

Mustafi told FCInternews (via the Daily Express): “I have a contract here and get on very well [with everyone].

''But the offers are always there and in football you never know what will happen, as anything can happen.

''However, I will assess at the end of the season.”

The centre-back is extremely talented, and, at the age of 24, has time on his side to develop even further.

Liverpool manager Klopp has already agreed a deal for one defender for next season, with Joel Matip poised to arrive from Schalke, and Super Deporte (via Express) have reported that Mustafi is a key Klopp transfer target.

With Mamadou Sakho currently banned for failing a drugs test, Klopp may seek to bring in another centre-back depending on the outcome of that situation.

Mustafi, who wears the no.5 shirt at Valencia, is very calm on the ball and has an impressive average pass accuracy of 81% in La Liga this season.

Liverpool appear to be moving in the right direction under Klopp, and last night secured their place in the Europa League final with an impressive victory over Villarreal.

Meanwhile, the Reds return to action on Sunday with a home game against Watford.
