AFC Wimbledon vs Newport County - Wimbledon set to rest key performers as play-offs loom

Neal Ardley is ready to rest several key players for AFC Wimbledon's Sky Bet League Two clash with Newport County.

Ardley admitted a host of his players feel "fatigued", and he could mix up selection with one eye on the impending play-offs.

Fit-again George Francomb could be among those rested, after returning from thigh trouble last week, with Wimbledon's play-off berth already secure.

Ade Akinfenwa and Ade Azeez could be in line for starts, with boss Ardley entering the clash fresh from receiving the manager of the month award.

Teenage defender Liam Angel and striker Tom Meechan will play some part for Newport.

The pair were unused substitutes in last week's 1-0 home defeat to Notts County, but Exiles boss Warren Feeney has confirmed they will get some minutes as the club's disappointing season comes to an end in south London.

Striker John-Christophe Ayina and midfielder Yan Klukowski are both missing for the Exiles.

But defenders Andrew Hughes and Darren Jones have shaken off knocks and will feature.
