Lorient 0 - 1 Lille OSC: Lille maintain Champions League ambitions with narrow win at Lorient
Posted Sunday, May 01, 2016 by PA
Lille kept alive their chances of qualifying for a Champions League place with a 1-0 win at Lorient - their fifth successive victory on the road.
Following a largely uneventful first half, Lille improved from the restart and twice went close in a matter of minutes but Eder saw a seemingly goalbound effort superbly kept out by Benjamin Lecomte before the Lorient goalkeeper denied Morgan Amalfitano with an acrobatic effort.
Despite the hosts' keeper's efforts, though, Lille opened the scoring on 56 minutes when Rony Lopes escaped from Eder's pass before beating Lecomte.
And that was the way it stayed as Lille closed the gap on fourth-placed St Etienne to just two points.
