Stenhousemuir vs Albion Rovers FC - Stenhousemuir and Albion set for pivotal meeting
Posted Saturday, April 30, 2016 by PA
Stenhousemuir are missing three players as they look to secure their Ladbrokes League One status with victory against play-off chasing Albion.
Jim Paterson is sidelined with a back injury, Allan Smith has a groin problem and Angus Beith is no longer available as his loan deal from Hearts has ended.
Just six points separate the sides in the table but there could be a whole division between them next season, with Albion two points off the top four and Stenhousemuir one point above the relegation play-offs.
Ochilview manager Brown Ferguson said: "This is a cup final for us and we need to play it in that manner. A win will see us safe and if we can play as well as we did at Cowdenbeath last weekend then we will have a great chance. They have to win as well so it should be an engrossing contest."
Albion player-manager Darren Young has a full squad to choose from.
His side must win and hope it is enough to leapfrog both Stranraer (two points ahead) and Airdrie (one goal ahead) into the top four.
Young said: "It will be a fraught day as three sides can go into the promotion play-offs and three sides can fall into the relegation play-offs. We have to push all the permutations aside and concentrate only on getting the win.
"Stenhousemuir will be very difficult opponents as they need to survive but we can get the win that will push us towards one of the highest league finishes this club has ever seen."
