Burton Albion FC vs Gillingham - Injury problems mount for promotion-chasing Burton

Burton will look to take a big step towards automatic promotion at home to Gillingham but they have a few injury problems to contend with ahead of the game.

The Brewers were dealt a double blow this week with the news that Mason Bennett and Tom Flanagan will miss the remaining two matches of the campaign. Bennett, on loan from Derby, suffered a groin strain during the win at Colchester while Flanagan hurt his hip in the draw with Wigan.

With Bennett out and Stuart Beavon having to be nursed through a knee knock recently, on-loan Nottingham Forest teenager Tyler Walker remains Burton's only fully-fit recognised striker.

Damien McCrory is not yet 100 per cent fit after a hamstring complaint but Flanagan's absence means he may have to return at left-back. Midfielder Callum Reilly (thigh) is also a slight doubt for Nigel Clough's team, who would be promoted on Monday if Walsall fail to match their result against Fleetwood.

Gillingham manager Justin Edinburgh is expected to make changes to his team.

He again has Doug Loft and Dominic Samuel available following injury, and both are in contention to start having this week returned to training.

Edinburgh is, however, without injured trio Andrew Crofts, Adam El-Abd (groin) and Bradley Garmston.

"We have the mindset and dedication to go to Burton and get a result," Edinburgh said.
