Having missed Real Madrid's draw with Manchester City, Cristiano Ronaldo may still be fit for the return match
A thigh injury restrained his preparation for the semi-final first leg, which finished 0-0, but a hamstring complaint kept him on the sidelines in Lancashire.
However, new tests have revealed fresh optimism over Ronaldo being able to play the second leg, on May 4 in at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
What is certain is the winger's removal from action for the weekend trip to Real Sociedad, as medical staff dare not risk Ronaldo's involvement the following Wednesday.
