TOUGH: Pellegrini knows that Guardiola's job won't be easy next season
Guardiola will succeed Pellegrini in June after agreeing a deal worth £15m-a-seaon.
The pressure on Guardiola to succeed will be massive as City look to become the dominant force in England and Europe.
Now Pellegrini has cranked it up even more after insisting he is leaving Guardiola a side that should be challenging for the Premier League and Champions League on a regular basis.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow nights Champions League semi-final first-leg against Real Madrid, Pellegrini said: "At this club it’s important to improve because three years ago we couldn’t qualify from the group stage.
"I’m sure that this club will be involved a lot of times in the last stages of the Champions League and will continue fighting for domestic titles, like we did this season.
"We have improved in the three years. I hope we will win the Champions League this year, but if not we have made important steps towards doing it in the next seasons.
