Dumbarton secured Scottish Championship survival after coming from behind to beat St Mirren 2-1 at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium.

Forward Callum Gallagher fired Saints ahead in the 10th minute, drilling his effort into the corner from the edge of the area.

Steve Saunders came close to an immediate leveller before the home side did equalise five minutes before half-time, with Keith Watson deflecting a cross into his own net.

Paul Heffernan missed a great opportunity to put Dumbarton in front when he crashed a shot against the bar having been clean through.

Lawrence Shankland hit the bar shortly afterwards for Saints before Garry Fleming nudged Dumbarton ahead in the 54th minute with a fine finish which was enough to keep them in the division.
