Matt Taylor netted his 28th goal of the season as Bristol Rovers kept their Sky Bet League Two automatic-promotion hopes alive with a 3-1 victory over Exeter at the Memorial Stadium.

Billy Bodin shot the Pirates in front in the 13th minute, running onto Cristian Montano's pass and cutting in from the right to net with a low left-footed shot that goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik got a hand to.

The second goal came on the stroke of half-time when Exeter defender Troy Brown was booked for an off-the-ball foul on Matt Taylor and Lee Brown stepped up to find the top corner with a sweet left-footed free-kick from 20 yards.

Exeter were not done with and replied three minutes after the interval when Jake Taylor curled a right-footed shot past Steve Mildenhall from a Ryan Harley pass.

But in the 69th minute Rovers top-scorer Matt Taylor broke onto Lee Mansell's pass and advanced to score with a clinical right-footed finish.
