Espanyol 1 - 1 Celta Vigo: Espanyol fight back to claim a point

Espanyol frustrated Celta Vigo's bid to qualify for the Europa League by holding the Galicians to a 1-1 draw.

Iago Aspas put Celta in charge on 28 minutes with an acrobatic finish from close range but Marco Asensio equalised 11 minutes later with an impressive 25-yard strike, earning Espanyol a point.

Espanyol winger Abraham was handed a clear chance to give the hosts an early lead when Celta lost possession deep in their half and left him one on one with Sergio Alvarez, but the goalkeeper stood firm.

Aspas then put Celta in front with a spectacular volley from Fabian Orellana's cross.

Espanyol were galvanised after conceding and tried to hit back quickly, Abraham heading over the bar and Hernan Perez missing the target with just goalkeeper Alvarez to beat.

Asensio then drew the hosts level with a brilliant finish into the bottom corner.

Espanyol looked the side more likely to score in the second half, the best chances falling to Gerard Moreno and substitute Burgui, but neither could take advantage and finish Celta off.
