Pique: Barca didn’t deserve to lose

Gerard Pique feels that despite his side's loss to Valencia, Barcelona will be okay if they continue to play like they did in Sunday's fixture.
The central defender, who has been making headlines in recent weeks due to his Twitter spat with Real Madrid's Alvaro Arbeloa, could be seen trying to motivate his teammates after conceding their first goal, but spirits were hard to lift after conceding a second just before half-time.
In an interview with Sport, Pique attempted to keep spirits up by calling the result undeserved and urging his side to continue playing the way they did.
"It’s incredible that the stars can align in this way," he said. "We played great, we didn't deserve to lose, but sometimes football is cruel like this. We leave with our head up high, we gave our all."
Lionel Messi was on target in the 63rd minute but the home team failed to cancel out the two first-half goals they conceded to Valencia, who have now won two matches in a row, putting an end to their own period of poor form.
"I prefer to lose playing like this than playing like we had done recently. I am convinced that playing like this, we’ll be OK," he continued. "Atletico and Madrid can also lose points, but we should take this on thinking we'll need to win all five remaining games."
Barca have now lost three consecutive matches, failing to win their last 4. This result sees Barcelona tied in top spot with Atletico Madrid, a single point above Real Madrid.
