Nottingham Forest vs Blackburn Rovers - Britt Assombalonga set for Forest return

Posted Tuesday, April 19, 2016 by PA

Nottingham Forest's club-record signing Britt Assombalonga will make his long awaited return to the squad against Blackburn.

The striker has not played for the first team since suffering a serious knee injury against Wigan in February 2015 but after three under-21 games and taking part in the warm-up at Rotherham at the weekend he will be involved at the City Ground on Tuesday night.

Fellow forward Jamie Ward will remain on the sidelines as the club await the results of scans on his latest hamstring injury.

Michael Mancienne is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle problem and he will be assessed but Kelvin Wilson's back issue looks likely to keep him out.

Blackburn expect to travel to the City Ground with a similar squad to the one which Paul Lambert had at his disposal at the weekend.

Winger Craig Conway will complete his three-match suspension following his dismissal at Sheffield Wednesday.

Tommy Spurr (Achilles) missed out in the 2-0 home loss to Huddersfield while Corry Evans (groin), Hope Akpan (hip) and Jason Lowe (foot) were all on the bench.

Like Forest, Rovers are one point away from the 50-point mark, though a draw will be enough to secure both sides' safety if MK Dons and Charlton both lose.
