It looks like Pep Guardiola and Manchester City have for sure bagged their man, to lead the revolution at The Etihad in 2016/2017.
For many weeks now, it was claimed that Pep Guardiola was keen to bring in Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City, as a playmaker who can control the game from deep.
Rumours were rife earlier this year, when Gundogan's uncle was spotted in Amsterdam alongside Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain.
On Sunday, Bild confirm that Ilkay Gundogan has already signed a five-year-contract with Manchester City.
Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City are still negotiating a fee for the player, but Bild expect it to be 30 million euros.
Gundogan is contracted to Dortmund until the end of the 2016/2017 season and there has been plenty of speculation regarding his future ever since he returned from long-term injury.
In the last few weeks, Gundogan has again struggled with injury and was a late substitute in the dramatic Dortmund defeat at Liverpool on Thursday night in the Europa League.
On his day, Gundogan is undoubtedly a player that can control a game and dictate play from deep, much as Pep Guardiola utilised Sergio Busquets at Barcelona and more recently, the likes of Phillip Lahm and Xabi Alonso at Bayern Munich.
Manchester City fans should perhaps be concerned about Gundogan's injury record, but they will likely have a very deep squad once again to cover for any absences.
