Sevilla 1 - 1 Deportivo La Coruna: Sevilla held at home as Deportivo edge closer to safety

Sevilla failed to win at home in the Primera Division for a second successive time as substitute Oriol Riera's late strike saw them held to a 1-1 draw by Deportivo La Coruna.

Riera converted in the 81st minute from Lucas' tee-up, cancelling out Vicente Iborra's 21st-minute header.

Sevilla, who booked their place in the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday, had won 13 home league games in a row before losing 2-1 to Real Sociedad at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium earlier this month.

It had looked as if normal service was to be resumed against Deportivo, with Unai Emery's men dominating for much of the contest.

But Riera's effort left seventh-placed Sevilla frustrated once again as their run of league matches without victory extended to four and Deportivo - who have only one win in 17 matches - moved nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Fernando Llorente was in the thick of the action early on and, soon after he had a couple of headers saved by Manu, he set up Iborra's goal by nodding the ball to him from a cross.

Moments later, Llorente collected the ball from a clever Iborra flick and sent a shot wide.

At the other end, a tame Faycal Fajr shot, easily dealt with by Sergio Rico, was the best Deportivo could muster before the break.

Sevilla's attempts to add a second after the interval saw Iborra thwarted just as he was about to shoot by Fernando Navarro's intervention, and Yevhen Konoplyanka curl a free-kick wide.

Deportivo then started to show a little more threat as Lucas brought a save out of Rico, and it was the winger who subsequently delivered the low ball which Riera tucked away at the far post.

Sevilla might have regained the lead in the 86th minute, but Daniel Carrico could not get his header on target.
