Brechin City 5 - 1 Peterhead: Robert Thomson hat-trick boosts Brechin's survival hopes

Posted Sunday, April 17, 2016 by PA

Robert Thomson netted a hat-trick as Brechin boosted their Scottish League One survival hopes with a 5-1 victory over second-placed Peterhead.

Thomson took his goal tally for the season to 15 to help the bottom-placed side secure a fifth consecutive home win which moves them one point from safety.

After Thomson provided the assist for Andrew Jackson's fifth-minute opener, the striker found the net with a lob.

Brechin's two-goal lead was halved courtesy of a fine sole effort from Nathan Blockley on the half hour mark, but the hosts ended the half strongly with goals in the space of three minutes from Liam Watt and Thomson.

In-form Thomson completed his treble in the 66th minute.
