Substitute Gregg Wylde's late winner decided the Dockyard Derby and helped Plymouth's automatic promotion bid in a 2-1 win at Portsmouth.

Wylde and Jamille Matt scored in the space of a minute to cap capped off a remarkable comeback to put the Pilgrims just two points off the top three.

Argyle nearly had the perfect start as skipper Curtis Nelson leapt highest to meet a third-minute corner, but could only divert it onto the inside of the post.

Pompey's Michael Smith then gave the Pompey the lead eight minutes before half-time with a brave diving header.

Gary Roberts should have scored with a lofted effort after using quick feet to get in behind but the Pompey man put it over.

Danny Hollands and Christian Burgess both had good chances to extend the lead in the second half, the latter with a clever flick, but the visitors made them pay.

Matt headed in unmarked from Graham Carey's corner, for his fourth goal in seven appearances since joining on loan from Fleetwood.

Then Wylde swept in from close range to give the 2,405 travelling fans renewed dreams of playing in League One next season with four minutes to play.
