Bristol Rovers 2 - 1 Yeovil Town: Matt Taylor nets winner to keep Bristol Rovers on course for promotion

Matt Taylor scored his 27th goal of the season to keep Bristol Rovers on course for automatic promotion from Sky Bet League Two with a 2-1 win over Yeovil at the Memorial Stadium.

The striker fired home from close range on 77 minutes after Rory Gaffney turned the ball back into the middle from Jermaine Easter's low cross-shot.

Rovers had gone in front on 42 minutes through Gaffney's well-placed header from a Billy Bodin free-kick.

But Yeovil contributed much to a thrilling game and equalised on 73 minutes when substitute Leroy Lita netted with an excellent low finish from Ryan Dickson's pass.

It took a fine save from Steve Mildenhall from another substitute, Paul Bird, to protect Rovers' lead and a third Yeovil replacement Marc Laird headed against the crossbar in injury time.

An entertaining first half brought chances for both teams, Taylor grazing a post for Rovers and Gaffney denied by a fine save from Artur Krysiak.

At the other end Brandon Goodship shot just over from a Francois Zoko cross and Lee Brown came to the rescue when Steve Mildenhall spilled a Jack Compton shot.
