Russel Slade has confirmed that Cardiff City are keen on retaining Feyenoord forward Lex Immers after the Dutchman's impressive start to life in the Championship.
Immers arrived at the Bluebirds in January and immediately hit the ground running scoring five goals in his first 11 starts, and with his high intensity work-rate he's been likened to Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy.
Slade believes the 29-year-old would be capable at both Championship and Premier League level, making him a priority signing at the end of the current campaign.
"There’s strong dialogue between the relevant parties when it comes to Lex," Slade told the club's official website.
"He has done well here. The way he's adapted, he wants to remain here and we are looking at that and hoping to make progress.
"It would be one for the summer, we are confident of doing something. Alex has been terrific. He's a real professional.
"He brings immense energy and gets goals at critical times. He's fitted right in. He's learned and that's impressed me in training and games.
"He's a good fit, to move that forward would be perfect."
